North Atlantic Treaty Organization

Topic: Crisis

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), serves as a political and military alliance among the 29 member nations. It mainly promotes democratic values and encourages the cooperation on security issues to build trust that later will prevent most disputes. In NATO, there is a commitment towards the peaceful resolution of conflicts; however, if diplomatic manners fail, their military facet manages the crisis. According to NATO’s founding treaty, it specifically operates under a UN mandate or the Article 5 of the Washington Treaty. The countries’ representatives are required to present a written document stating their current political alliances and the existence in them.
