The Sudden Surge of Xenophobia and Race-Prompted Armed Killings in Western Countries

The United Nations’ Security Council (UNSC) was created after World War II in the year 1945. The Security Council consists of 15 members. France, China, Russia, USA, and the UK are 5 permanent members who have the power to ‘veto’ the solutions the committee intends to solve. The Security Council also consists of 10 temporary members, which are selected by the General Assembly for 2 year terms. The council is in charge of maintaining peace and order all around the world. “The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression.” (UNSC) When risks are detected, the Security Council has to call all involved parties and try to reach a consensus through a peaceful solution.
